I hadn't heard of disparate album versions for the Mali and international markets.
The last time I heard Youssou N'dour put out an album that was only released in Senegal--this was prior to the international release of Rokku Mi Rokka, but I hadn't been able to confirm it. -

The copy I bought is called Kounadia and track 7 is Seya. I was also given the cassette as a pressie by a local. Who knows what's behind it. Happy to do a full track comparision with you.
I'm sure stranger things have happened.
Papa Wemba used to have very different shows for African or Anglo audiences. I know which I prefer. -

Yes, it's interesting how "world" music has been packaged for the home and international/"world" audiences.
I was going thru my world music favs from the 90s and there was this Asian fusion tune that was composed by a western musician as part of his world music project, covered by an Asian artist and became a pop hit in the country that inspired the song, and at least another cover version released not long after that was targeted for disco/club play--complete with two separate music videos released by the two main artists performing the song!
But that story is for another thread ;)
